Project Rainbow: After Blue

Description: Project Rainbow’s fourth dance and media-based project, Blue, is an experimental film and dance documentary which was installed at four venues in East Vancouver- Centre A, Solder and Sons, the Chinese Cultural Centre, and the Strathcona Community Centre.

As a starting point of inspiration, Yves Klein’s photograph and performance Leap into the Void (1960) physicalized an image of a man’s (potential) attempt at flight, these latter qualities strike as akin efforts of ski jumpers to defy gravity, to take flight, and to confront space and time through an embrace of the moment; a mystical and hyperbolic endeavor.The film installation features the Canadian Women’s Ski Jumping Team (2009) both in flight and performing choreographed movements based on their training and practice.
