photo-graphic diary is the first issue of an editorial project featuring a selection of photographs taken by me — published every Monday of the year on the web site photographicdiary.com — to pursue graphic research work on page layout of images and book design.

photo-graphic diary is a periodical project. This will allow me to experiment with the different aspects of book design: cover, paper, inserts, signatures, binding, etc. always with the same format, i.e. 165 x 230 mm closed. At the same time, it will imply looking at daily life from a photographic point of view, with the aim of always creating new images.

time is a key element in this project: time required to choose and upload images; time to read the book, to hold it in our hand, feeling its weight and consistence, going through its pages; time to look at the images that were often conceived as sequences related to one another through graphics or colour; time as the subject of images, when a still subject is photographed from different points of view, or a moving subject is photographed by a still camera.

my photography lies on the surface. Grammatical signs of visual perception are used to frame segments of daily life. Nothing is irrelevant. there are no constrictions. Every framed situation, even the most obvious, features a new meaning in the contingency.
