Printed upon the occasion of the first "Bernhard von Lindenau Award" at the Lindenau-Museum Altenburg, 2008, this book of photographs by Aymeric Fouquez capture the paradoxical memorial sites of the North of France. These overcast rural landscapes juxtapose a slow, mundane pace of life with the sinister presence of grave sites, a constant reminder of collective loss and political turmoil. Included in each book is an original photograph from the artist's childhood taken on visits to the graveyards to play with his family.
