Product Description

The Slow Press (est. 2021) is an independent food magazine based in Singapore that is fixated on the rich stories behind what we eat.

Through longform journalism, design, illustration, and photography, the magazine seeks to bring Singapore’s vibrant food heritage to the foreground in an introspective, yet quirky and fun way. We want to shed light on the ways of looking at food to help you truly appreciate the goodness that goes into your stomach.

The Slow Press Vol. 5: BITTERSWEET is a collection of food stories exploring the titular flavour. It is a
collection of nine stories written, photographed, illustrated, and designed by the team and our lovely
contributors throughout the course of 2022.

Life, like food, comes in a diverse, chaotic platter containing everything from acrid bitterness to sugary
sweetness. In this volume, you'll find our attempts to capture that range of possibility - with everything
from a personal essay about eating out alone, to an exploration of the relationship between sexuality and
fruits, to a search for the origins of an infamous nightlife cocktail - amongst other stories.
