Product Description

The Tale of the Japanese and the Clothes is an artist's book containing a story and photographs by Megumi Matsubara. The text was written in English, then translated into German for this edition. The story was written in Morocco in October 2013 during Megumi's one-month stay in the Sahara Desert. Seven other stories followed to make a series of eight. The Tale of the Japanese and the Clothes is the fifth of the series, and the third to be published. Coupled with the story are images from Megumi's photographic series, Un coquelicot, consisting of 523 portraits of red poppies photographed in Kik Plateau in 2015. The book includes a poetry exchange between two artists. Loris Gréaud took the words from Megumi Matsubara's poem, Undress, and rearranged them using cut-up technique to form, An entrance. The poem, Undress, originally appeared in the Carrefour /Treffpunkt exhibition catalogue, published by the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen--Germany.
