After textile studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and art residencies abroad, in 2013 Laura moved to the village of Šklėriai near the Dzūkija National Park. Here she lives with a small herd of Skuda sheep and spins their wool every day. For her, spinning is a political movement and at the same time a process that has the magical power to unite people of different experiences, helping to understand constant change and flux.

in 2017 Laura founded the art initiative "Verpėjos" to explore and discuss the traditional rural lifestyle and nature conservation, to activate the discussion about changes and processes, both local and global. Working with contemporary artists, curators, artisans and naturalists, "Verpėjos" organizes interdisciplinary seminars, symposiums and exhibitions. in 2019 the gallery of Marcinkonių station was opened, and in 2020 the program of "Verpejų" art residencies was launched.

Laura about the exhibition: "In the exhibition, it will be possible to find the forest, which becomes parts of the sheep's bodies, but at the same time my own trace, extended in time. Also the weaver, whose performance(s), the weaving process itself, is important and valuable in itself. It is detached from economic, ethnographic or scientific value, just like the beetle that gnaws a tree and is popularly called a weevil, does not serve any higher purpose. It just is.

Beetles can also occur, but you may not meet them. They will have left their writings.”

Po tekstilės studijų Vilniaus dailės akademijoje, meno rezidencijų užsienyje, 2013 m. Laura persikėlė į Šklėrių kaimą netoli Dzūkijos nacionalinio parko. Čia ji gyvena su nedidele škudų avių banda ir kasdien verpia jų vilną. Verpimas jai – politinis judesys ir tuo pačiu magišką galią vienyti įvairių patirčių žmones turintis procesas, padedantis suprasti nuolatinius pokyčius ir tėkmę.

2017 m. Laura įkūrė meno iniciatyvą „Verpėjos“, skirtą tirti ir aptarti tradicinį kaimo gyvenimo būdą ir gamtos išsaugojimą, aktyvinti diskusiją apie pokyčius ir procesus, tiek vietinius, tiek pasaulinius. Dirbdamos su šiuolaikiniais menininkais, kuratoriais, amatininkais ir gamtininkais „Verpėjos“ organizuoja tarpdisciplininius seminarus, simpoziumus ir parodas. 2019 m. atidaryta Marcinkonių stoties galerija, o 2020 m pradėta „Verpėjų“ meno rezidencijų programa.

Laura apie parodą: „Parodoje bus galima rasti mišką, kuriuo tampa avių kūnų dalys, bet tuo pačiu ir mano pačios pėdsaką, ištęstą laike. Taip pat audėją, kurio(s) veikimas, pats audimo procesas yra savaime svarbus ir vertingas. Jis atsietas nuo ekonominės, etnografinės ar mokslinės vertės, taip kaip ir vabalas, graužiantis medį ir liaudyje vadinamas kirvarpa, netarnauja kokiam nors aukštesniam tikslui. Tiesiog yra.
