Product Description

“Do you paint or do you draw?” is an artist book that speaks about time using as narrative a specific moment most artists have to face from time to time; introductions, presenting yourself to someone else you just met. It goes like this: “My name is …, I’m an artist” which is always followed by the counter question; “Oh, amazing! Do you paint or do you draw?” ... eyes look to the side lines as the artist answers back; “I’m a conceptual artist” and that is when the real questionnaire begins... All of the questions that follow revolve around money and time.

This book explores the tension between having to justify what one’s own time as an artist is invested in and society's understanding of the capitalistic rhythm we are supposed to follow as means to earn our lives.

The narrative is divided into two parts; a dialogue that is held in the public sphere which is taken from real life conversations and is written with a tint of sarcasm and the inner talk which is an intimate poetic short text.
