LOST BODY

For the first time since its original publication in a limited edition of 200 copies, this volume of Lost Body, one of Aimé Césaire's most powerful collections of poetry, unites the poems with illustrations especially made for them by Pablo Picasso.

The design of Lost Body is based on Corps Perdu designed by Pablo Picasso and published by Editions Fragrance (Paris, 1950) in a limited edition of 219 copies. Picasso chose to set Aimé Césaires poems in Erasmus, designed by S. H. de Roos, a medeival-style type dating from 1923 with light serifs, tall ascenders, short descenders, and an unusual lower-case g. A new typeface, Vermeer, has been designed by AlphaOmega especially for this edition of Lost Body, with digital composition by ASD Typesetting Service of Poughkeepsie, New York, using High Technology Solutions, Multi-language Publishing System. Vermeer is based on Erasmus proportions and feel, but has a more contemporary appearance.

Lost Body has been designed by Cynthia Hollandsworth and printed on Mohawk Vellum cream. Printing and binding by Murray Printing Company of Westford, Massachusetts.
