Armageddon - The End, a topographical survey

The Book of Revelation describes Armageddon as the place where the Antichrist will gather his troops for the final battle between good and evil. The common interpretation is that Jezreel Valley in northern Israel corresponds to Armageddon. It is a productive agricultural area with a sophisticated irrigation system, known for its rich bird life. From a geo-political perspective, Armageddon is situated in a region of great tension: the southern part of the valley is in Palestine, while Syria and Lebanon are just a couple of hours away by car. About 30 000 people live in the region that has an area of approximately 35 000 hectares. The photographs in Armageddon - The End, a topographical survey were taken in late December 2011.
