Gayhouse invites Linder to its sixth issue. This publication coincides with the opening of the artist’s retrospective, Femme/Objet, at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris on February 1, 2013.

Beginning her career in the late 1970s within Manchester’s musical scene, alongside Joy Division, Buzzcocks and The Smiths, Linder formed the group Ludus. In 1982, during a concert at the Hacienda, she wore a dress made of meat, combining assertive feminist and vegetarian gestures. Over the past three decades, she has become known for her collages, which first appeared on record covers (Buzzocks, Orgasm Addict) and in Jon Savage’s fanzine, The Secret Public. Punk body artist and modern witch, she dissects the body of magazines, with a scalpel in her hand and glamour on her mind. Thirty years after the series « Pretty Girls, » in which toasters, irons and radios hid the faces of women in a porn magazine, she creates for Gayhouse a modified porno: in it, two « pretty boys » from the ’70s share sex and affection in an apartment filled with weightless, floating objects.

« I shall love you till that final stretch of sand that the sea never quite reaches is finally swathed by the crashing waves. Or, perhaps longer… if there’s time. » (Morrissey to Linder in Interview, 2010)
