Product Description

“Land, Logo, Löwe” (Land, Logo, Lion) is the first comprehensive publication of the work of the Zurich-based artist Daniela Keiser. The monographic and richly illustrated volume is published on the occasion of the solo presentations at the Kunstmuseum Solothurn and the Villa Merkelin Esslingen.

With her photographs, objects and installations, Daniela Keiser is one of the most important Swiss artists of her generation. Over the last ten years her work has been presented in various individual aspects. Now, for the first time, a broad selection of her oeuvre is being shown for the first time, with works in various media. The title of the publication and the exhibition alludes to Keiser’s recurrent preoccupation with the (urban) landscape, her conceptual preoccupation with language and signs, and her turning to all things creative, especially the enigmatic (fabled) world of animals.

Five texts deepen the reading and illuminate the work. Barbara Basting developed the form of a keyword glossary especially for this publication, which can be read like a hypertext along Keiser’s works and integrates them into a (text) system. Andreas Fiedler examines the artist’s most recent photo series, while Markus Stegmann examines a single photographic work in greater depth. Isabel Zürcher discusses the early language works and installative works and addresses questions of authorship. Christoph Vögele devotes himself to the landscape motif in the field of tension between model and real space and provides a comprehensive overview of Daniela Keiser’s diverse oeuvre.
