Play Date, a collaboration with artist and designer Laura Coombs, is a hybrid coloring/cursive book.

Included are thermography printed drawings by Loren Britton, which combine two 2017 exhibitions, Play, First at Disclaimer Gallery, Brooklyn and Second Date, Field Projects Gallery, New York City.

Loren Britton is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher tuning with practices of Critical Pedagogy, TransFeministTechnoScience and Disability Justice. Playing with the queer potential of undoing norms they practice joyful accountability to matters of anti-racism, collaboration, Black Feminisms, instability, TransFeminisms and transformation. With Isabel Paehr as MELT, they queer knowledges from computation and chemistry to shift metaphors of melting in times of climate change (Meltionary). Britton is an Associate Lecturer in Queer Feminist Technoscience & Digital Design at i-DAT at the University of Plymouth, UK; and an artistic researcher on the interdisciplinary project Re: Coding Algorithmic Culture within the Gender/Diversity in Informatics Systems Research Group at the University of Kassel, DE.

Laura Coombs is a graphic designer and creative director in New York, and a Lecturer at Princeton. She is also the head of design for New Museum.
Coombs maintains an independent design and teaching practice. She has lectured and served as a critic at design schools including the Yale School of Art, Princeton, Columbia GSAPP, Cooper Union, Werkplaats Typografie, Sci-Arc, and the Yale School of Architecture. Her work has been recognized by the AIGA, ADC, TDC, Tokyo TDC, and the Yale School of Art. In 2017, she graduated from the Yale School of Art with an MFA in Graphic Design. Previously, she graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, and worked as an architect in New York for clients including Herman Miller, Diller Scofido + Renfro, Zaha Hadid, Vito Acconci, and Pentagram, among others. On January 1, 2020, Coombs formed CSS, Inc.—a collaborative strategic entity—with Laurel Schwulst and Mindy Seu. CSS consults for corporations and institutions, and maintains its own internal collaborative research practice within areas of interest including the web, gifts, citation, and publishing.
